Deserted House (廃屋) is the name of Kaito Yuuki's ability.

Use and Limitations[]

Deserted House allows Kaito to store both living or non-living objects within a separate dimensional space, referred to as the "Fourth Dimension", by having them make direct contact with his body; the only limiting factor being that said item cannot have the same mass as Kaito himself.

Anything stored within this dimension is essentially frozen in time, meaning they're in the same condition as when they were first stored, such as flying arrows possessing the same amount of momentum or a can of cola still maintaining the same cool temperature.

Besides allowing him to store things inside his body, Kaito can also uses this ability for combat, absorbing incoming projectiles without injury and sending them right back at enemy, giving him a good balance of both offense and defense even without using any of the stored weapons or tools.

Trivia[]

  • Throughout the series, Kaito's ability only appears to activate when the living or non-living object makes contact or about to make contact with his own skin, as it does not appear to activate on any clothes that he currently wears through any action that he has engaged in (e.g., Chapters 22, 23, and 61).
    • This would probably explain the character's preference of not wearing a top to ensure the object-in-question enters and exits his body seamlessly.
  • Another aspect of Kaito's ability is that whenever his ability activates (i.e., whether the object is entering in or out of his body) in most instances, a light of varying intensity seems to emanate from his body. This may serve as an indicator that the "hyperspace" (as named by the character in Chapter 23) is opening up.
    • There were a number of times that Kaito used his ability to whip out a pistol from hands and no light appears to have emanate from him (e.g., Chapters 20, 22, 63). However, there were other times that a light did emanate from Kaito (e.g., Chapters 94 and 96) when he has whipped out his pistols.
  • At one point when Kaito utilized his ability to launch the enemy's attack back at them (i.e., Chapter 23), the force of the blast pushed him back hard enough to break through the shelves that he had his back initially pushed back to, which means that the momentum of the objects-in-question still has enough force to affect him as much as those in front of him.
  • It appears that the "hyperspace" (aka 'fourth dimension pocket') cannot be view by others through conventional means (e.g., an altered male co-prisoner in Chapter 1 attempted to use his ability to see if Kaito was hiding anything on him after the latter offered to let some of the prisoners look through his bag, which was completely empty).
  • One interesting aspect of his ability is that during the eclipse, Kaito was unable to activate his ability to gain access to the objects inside of him (i.e., Chapter 64), although the dimension pocket and any objects inside of him still exists prior to the start of the astronomical event.
